Hi all, I wanted to let my feelings be heard with a stallion prospect which comes down to Australia for this breeding season. I have no affiliation with any stud.
I have been in the US for four years now and as always I monitor both hemispheres very great intent. Over 12 months ago I was introduced to a horse by one of my friends as I had been searching for a stallion prospect for Australia.
Specifically a horse by More Than Ready. The horse I was introduced to was More Than Looks. After viewing his replays what struck me was his amazing turn of foot. His running style of coming from behind in my view was the only thing that would prevent him from winning a Grade 1 as his ability seemed evident.
I had an Australian client locked in to purchase 50% before his last campaign but unfortunately that deal fell through.
The thing that strikes me about American racing on turf is that all of the tracks ore on the inside of the dirt tracks making these tracks so tight turning it is almost impossible to make ground especially at Group level. This seems to only happen when you have the perfect run in the race. Well in fact he did in November of 2024 winning the Breeders Cup Mile Turf and defeated many G1 performers storming down the outside again showing his blistering turn of foot.
Looking into his pedigree he is by a stallion that has been ultra successful in Australia whether as a sire and now a broodmare sire. More Than Looks’s dam side is free of Danehill and in my view has the potential to mingle as his father did with and Danehill line blood that is put underneath him. He will suit the Australian population of broodmares and I believe represents outstanding value in comparison to the stallions out there and will give a very valuable outcross which has already worked in Australia.
